Mini Starfish Amigurumi
Need an easy, quick crochet project? Need another bookmark to add to your collection? This crochet Pansy Bookmark is a fun easy project that only takes a little bit of yarn. This bookmark is adjustable for multiple lengths so it will fit any book perfectly!
Materials Needed:
Abbreviations:
Flower Center:
Step 1: Create a magic ring.
Step 2: 6 SC in the magic ring.
Step 3: Pull tight.
Step 4: SL ST in first SC to close
Step 5: Tie off securely.
Flower Petals:
Step 1: Insert your hook into one of the SC and CH 4 with a new color.
Step 2: Skip one SC and SL ST in the next. CH 3.
Step 3: Skip one SC and SL ST in the next. CH 3.
Step 4: SL ST in the first SC that we put our hook into during step 1.
***You should now have three loops, two smaller ones (CH 3) and one bigger one (CH 4).
Step 5: In the big loop, do (SC, DC x 6, SC)
Step 6: In the next loop, do (SC, DC x 4, SC)
Step 7: In the next loop, do (SC, DC x 4, SC). SL ST into the big loop.
Step 8: Tie off securely.
***For steps 9-12 we will be working in the front loops only.
Step 9: Starting between the big petal and one of the small petals (see picture for reference), insert your hook into the front loop of the first SC of the small petal. CH 2 with a new color.
Step 10: In the front loops only, (INC with DC) x 4, SC.
Step 11: In the front loops only, SC, (INC with DC) x 4, SC.
Step 12: In the front loops only, SC, (INC with DC) x 6, SC.
***For steps 13-14 we will be working in the back loops only of the small petals
Step 13: In the back loops only, SC, (INC with TR) x 4, SC.
Step 14: In the back loops only, SC, (INC with TR) x 4, SC.
Step 15: Tie off securely.
Stem:
Step 1: Add
Step 2: CH to the desired length of the bookmark (I did 50).
Leaf:
Step 1: CH 8 more to the end of your stem.
Step 2: In the first chain away from your hook, SC. Then move onto the next chain away from your hook and HDC. Repeat this along the chain with DC, TR, DC, HDC, SC.
Step 3: Repeat step 2 on the other side of the leaf.
Step 4: Tie off securely.

Row 7: (SC, DEC) x 6 [12]
*Add the eyes between row 3 and 4.
*Add the mouth between row 5 and 6.
Row 8: DEC x 6 [6]
*Add stuffing.
Row 9: INC x 6 [12]
Row 10: INC x 12 [24]
Row 11: In the next stitch do (SC, HDC, DC, TR, DC, HDC, SC) skip the next two stitches then repeat (SC, HDC, DC, TR, DC, HDC, SC). Continue around the octopus until you have eight legs. After the last leg, skip two stitches then SL ST.
-Tie off securely, leaving a long tail of yarn.
-Use the long tail of yarn to sew the bottom shut by sewing through the neck of the octopus and pulling tight. Repeat this until the bottom hole is sealed shut.
To Make Into a Keychain:
Step 1: Cut a piece of yarn to be about 8 inches long.
Step 2: Using your crochet hook, thread the yarn through the top of the octopus.
Step 3: Tie yarn into a knot.

Back Fin:
Step 1: Insert your hook under the first stitch closest to the face that we did in the back loop only (Row 5).
Step 2: In the same stitch CH 2, HDC, DC, HDC, SC.
Step 3: Move onto the next stitch that was in the back loop only and do
Step 4: Repeat step 3 until you have reached the back of your fish.
Step 5: Tie off securely.
